Tonight Josie got her first taste of solid foods. Well, I guess calling rice cereal a solid food is a bit of a stretch, but it’s a solid none the less.
She wasn’t too keen on the cereal, although we think that’s because she didn’t like the spoon that we used at first. But once the cereal was gone (most of it having been absorbed into her bib) she was more than happy to grab and lick the bowl clean.
We’ll be giving her the rice cereal for the next week or so, then she graduates to cereal in the morning and mashed veggies at night. I can’t wait to see her expression when she tries mushed up peas for the first time.
Josie had her six month checkup yesterday and she’s doing great. She weighed in at 13 pounds, 2 ounces and measured 25 inches long. Everything checked out fine according to the doctor.
She’ll be starting on solids any day now. We decided not to try yesterday since Josie was still a bit grumpy from the vaccinations she received. Maybe today or tomorrow she’ll get her first taste of rice cereal. Note that I said taste since I’m expecting she’ll end up wearing more of it than will end up inside of her.
I’ll be sure to post some pictures of her first solids meal. They are sure to be entertaining.
Josie has been teething for a while (drool city) and just today her first tooth broke through! It’s hard to see but you can feel the tip of it poking through her lower gum.
Ah, she’s growing up too fast.
