It’s too early!

One of the local radio stations began playing Christmas music starting at 7:30 AM this morning. I’m sorry, but it’s still two weeks until Thanksgiving, let alone almost 6 weeks until Christmas. If they want to start playing Christmas music on November 28th, great. But not yet!

I just know I’m going to get sick of White Christmas, Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman (all sung by a variety of artists) long before Christmas arrives.

Ah well, earplugs are cheap. :)

Josie’s going to be a big sister! Our biggest news of the year is that we are going to have a baby! The newest addition to our family should arrive by May 14, 2009. We are thrilled! Josie is in love with babies and said she’d like to have one live with us. I think she’ll be a great big sister. Everything is going well so far, although the morning sickness is quite a bit worse this time around. I’m 13 weeks along, though, so hopefully the nausea and exhaustion will go away soon. At our first appointment in September, we got to see the baby on the ultrasound and hear and see the heartbeat. It was a healthy 151. We went in for our next check-up on 10/30 and everything looked good. We heard the heartbeat again and it sounded very good. Nice and strong with a good rhythm to it. We’ll have to go back and listen to the tape to figure out the rate. We’ll be checking in again with the doctor just before Thanksgiving. I’m sure you can all imagine how excited we are to be adding to our family. What a blessing this is!

I really did hate Minnie Mouse…

Filed under: Helene, Josie — Helene @ 9:27 pm

Everyone who knows me well knows that I’ve never had any love for Minnie Mouse. I fell in love with Mickey when I received my first Mickey doll at the age of two. Eventually I realized he had another woman in his life and the bitterness began. My brother found it amusing that I still hung on to this hatred throughout my life, so he bought Josie a Minnie Mouse dress for Christmas last year. I know it was just to tweak me. I was often asked what I would do if Josie decided she liked Minnie. Oh, that’ll never happen, I’d say. How wrong I was. Josie absolutely loves “Mimi” (Minnie) and “Mimi” (Mickey). I know, the names can seem confusing but we always know which “Mimi” she’s talking about. That dress she got for Christmas last year (a size 12 months) is still a little big for her but she sure loves wearing it. What can I say? She’s convinced me to give Minnie another chance. Here is our very own little “Mimi” on Halloween:

She had a great time going around the neighborhood with us. We spent about 45 minutes walking and talking to neighbors while Josie learned the joy of getting candy from people. She got to be a pro by the end, reaching right in to the baskets to pick out some candy. She was quite popular. We have a lot of elderly neighbors who really enjoyed talking with her and giving her candy. I bet next year she’ll be dragging us around to every house in the neighborhood!
